Telford's Veteran Trail Opening Ceremony

The launch of Telford’s Veteran Trail was celebrated by the Deputy Lieutenant, Major Sam Brettell, Right Honourable Lucy Allan MP, Mayor Arnold England and Councillor Raj Metha, as well as representatives from the Royal British Legion.

Music by the wonderful Wellington (Telford) Brass Band.

The ceremony was opened by TVT’s Chairperson Erica Hanson-McKenzie. It was a wonderful morning, which was well attended by veterans and their families.

Chair Erica Hanson-McKenzie told the guests it’s been a long 6 years, thanks in particular Balfour Beatty for their generous donation, allowing TVT to become a reality. She also said whilst looking at what it means to be a veteran she came across this quote:

‘Some people live an entire lifetime and wonder if they have ever made a difference in the world, but our veterans don’t have that problem, because our veterans served and fought not because they hated what was in front of them, but because they loved what was behind them and it’s because of this we must remember the service of our veterans, and their families who have sacrificed so much so that a nation can live in peace.’

It was announced the first charity the TVT is going to support this year is the Armed Forces & Veterans Breakfast Club
